Old Business:

In meetings past, it was brought up if Board Members should be compensated for time and travel if they attended trainings. The board agreed that trainings are an assumed responsibility of being on the board and members should not be getting any extra compensation to attend them.

The board continued discussion on cleaning up the trees around the lagoon. It was previously decided to have Wilber-Clatonia students volunteer their time to clean them up as an exchange for using the community center for Prom. However, the school decided against moving Prom to Clatonia so the students never came up. John said he can help get them cut down and Sheri said she can get some Tordon and they will get the trees cleaned up.

Sheri is still looking for ovens for the community center. She is making sure we get the correct ovens that will work best in the community center. She did say they will be bought before the first of the year.

David Solheim sent the board his recommended revisions and additions to the NextLink Broadband Infrastructure Construction Agreement. Mike made a motion to accept the revisions and additions to the agreement and continue on as long as NextLink agrees to sign the Village damage waiver. Shelby seconded. Voting yes was Schuerman, Waltke, S. Hajek, J. Hajek, and Holsing. Motion carried 5-0.

The north bathrooms are still having issues with pipes freezing when the temps get extremely cold. John suggested getting some sort of space heaters in them for when the temps drop to extreme. Jesse suggested looking into a wall mounted unit as they are generally safer and work better. The board agreed to have Jesse find a suitable heater and get them installed.

The board continued discussion on getting the alley behind Washington Street graded and rocked. John will let Sarah know what type of rock will be needed and how much when he is ready to start the project.

New Business:

Because of personal and family events going on throughout the week, the board decided it would work better for the members if the date of the meetings were changed. The board agreed to change the meetings to Every 3rd Thursday of the month at 6:30pm.

The community center has recently been getting a lot more mice than usual. The board agreed to have Sarah buy some glue traps and/or bait traps to get the mice problem taken care of.

Dealings With The Public:

A resident asked if the Village would be able to put a crosswalk in going across the highway between Security 1st Bank and Sheila’s Bar. That is more of a state issue than a Village issue. The board agreed there really isn’t much the Village could do. Sheri will call the roads department and see if they can install a speed sign as maybe that will help passerby’s become more aware of their speed and surroundings.

Sheri gave an update on the Engine Braking Signs. She said she had talked to the roads department about getting new Engine Braking signs put up. She was told they would replace them right away, however, that has been over a month and they still are not replaced. She will try getting ahold of the roads department again to get the new signs installed.

A resident suggested for next year the Village put together a walk thru Christmas Lights Show (similar to the light show at the Lincoln Zoo, but smaller.) The board agreed this would be something that they would feel the Cardinal Club may be interested in doing. It was also brought up to have a Christmas Decorating Contest for Village residents. The town would vote for the best decorated house with prizes for first, second, and third place. The board agreed this would be a good idea and fun for the Village. They will continue discussion on this for Christmas next year.

Adjournment:

Mike made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:07 p.m. Jesse seconded. Voting yes was Schuerman, S. Hajek, Waltke, J. Hajek and Holsing. Motion carried 5-0.

The next meeting will be held THURSDAY January 16th, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at the Village Office located at the Clatonia Community Center.
